Close to Manhattan well maintained Hotal clean and spacious room. Nice lobby and dinning area. Staff is courteous. The property is across a power plant and in the night you can hear a bit of noise it may be uncomfortable for silent sleepers. Street parking is impossible if you have no NYC experience. Overall good experience

The staff were very friendly from the moment we arrived at the hotel and they were very accommodating. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The self service shop in the lobby and laundry facilities were also a nice addition. Subway station is a 5 minute walk and there are frequent trains into Manhattan. The shower in the bathroom was very weak with only a small amount of hot water coming out. Other than that there were no complaints.

Residence by Marriott is in Long Island City, in a neighborhood New Yorkers know as Queensbridge. It's got its rough edges, meaning Ghetto. But you don't and probably, in my opinion, should feel unsafe. You know, you got the guys (homeboys) in front of the Deli's sometimes blasting music or selling some food or other stuff to enhance your mood that you may want to buy discretely. There's a police presence, especially at night but again, I haven't felt unsafe and I don't think this is because I am an adult male. The hotel is a good 7-10 mininute walk to the subway station and bus, which run pretty frequently and you can get to your destination, be it Queens or the city (Manhattan) fairly quickly. The staff support and customer service is excellent. Very attentive and helpful staff! There's a small workout room, which okay, a bar and a lounge/cafeteria-like area where you can hang out. A complete full breakfast is served (scrambled eggs, meat proteins, cereals, juices, bagels). I mean, I am a Puerto Rican New Yorker who now lives in Miami and I think this place in terms of comfort level checked all my boxes. I reserved a room with a kitchenette, well equipped. You get 2 burners, nice fridge, dishwasher. Enough to get buy! I noticed enough construction in the area so there's investment going on in the neighborhood. Would definitely go back. The workout room was lacking a little. Wished there were more options other than the local delis and grocery stores. Having said that, there's good local food.

The hotel is comfortable, but the neighborhood is a hodgepodge of residences, hotels, parking lots, industrial facilities and very little commerce useful for visitors. It can be a little uncomfortable arriving at night, figuring out what to do with your vehicle. The most annoying thing about this hotel is that they charged a security deposit of $100 on top of the nightly charge which they said would be reimbursed in 7-14 days. Just absurd. There was no mention of this charge when I reserved the room on Booking. If they are going to charge a security deposit of 50% of the nightly rate, Booking should pre-advise customers.

Not so great neighborhood

Breakfast was a full hot bfast and the coffee was pretty good even offering oatmilk along with cream. The selection of convenience items for purchase near the front entrance was a little limited in drinks but they did have snacks. Staff was friendly, the hotel was very busy and bfast was packed with people, seating was taken up quickly. The walk to the subway was 12min and the area at the subway entrance was a little sketchy, recommend stick to uber at this location, otherwise decent stay

Loved this hotel! Location is perfect. Only change I would recommend is to have better signage and information about the shuttle to the train. This is an awesome service that should be advertised better. I happened to see it posted in one elevator but not in all and there was no information about the shuttle in the room. Also, the thermostat did not work well. The room would not cool down even when I lowered the thermostat. Overall great hotel!!
