Our stay was great. Room was clean. Pool was clean. Staff was great.

This is a 4.5 for me, but since the reason I'd dock half a star has to do with a food allergy, I'll give 5 rather than 4. The included breakfast has a lot, but not much for me to eat with a gluten allergy. I took a hard-boiled egg, but it tasted wrong when I started to eat it, so I didn't finish it. The only yogurt available was Yoplait, which is pure sugar, so that wasn't a great option for me either. In the end, I found my breakfast elsewhere. Otherwise, this was a great stay and if you don't have a food allergy, probably would be five stars for you.

Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. It had a kitchenette, which I can see being so useful, especially for those with allergies or small children who need meals at different times. It even had pots and pans, a small freezer/fridge, and dish soap. There's shampoo and conditioner in the shower, although our daughter felt it was harsh on her hair. The hand soap they provide is really nice. The OTI is situated in a slightly odd area, sandwiched in between industrial buildings. However, that doesn't affect the quality of the hotel itself. If you want to go to Old Town from here, you can walk, but the train depot has a lot of homeless people and walking through the parking lot to get there can be unpleasant. There is a parking lot just off the main drag of Old Town, and it's free. The night we were there, the hotel was sold out and unfortunately parking was a challenge. Street parking is not an option, and due to the location of the hotel. We didn't use the pool, but it looked clean and nice. The free breakfast is bagels, oatmeal, cereal, boiled eggs, coffee, juice, etc. It was really popular and seemed to be appreciated by all those in the breakfast room (which was a lot). All in all a good trip and we'd stay there again.

I liked the nostalgia

When I checked in, we were initially assigned a room that someone hadn’t checked out of - clothes on the bed, shoes in the kitchen, immediately turned around to front desk asking for another room. So next room seemed fine until day two when we came back to the toilet constantly running and the fill valve broken - the thing had pushed up the lid to the toilet, called front desk and they came over to look at it, but maintenance had already left for the night so we were stuck with a toilet that was running and I was seriously concerned the valve was going to burst and create a geyser in the bathroom. Fortunately day 3 maintenance came and fixed the toilet while we were out. My wife and kids all had black feet from walking around the carpet for a few minutes ahead of showering. I get stuff happens that causes maintenance issues, but the pictures and description are misleading at best, we would not stay here again.

There were bugs all over. We got several bites and killed a few spiders in the tub. The cleaners came into our room the second we left for breakfast, making us have to wait for them to finish before we could continue getting ready for the day. The rooms are not very sound proof, and lots of light comes in through the cracks in the door. There was never towels at the pool, and always dead leaves floating in there. Breakfast was the exact same every single day. And it was not good. Very few options. It was just an okay stay.

Such a nice place to stay and super clean. Breakfast was very good and lots of variety. Room was super clean and well stocked with lots of towels and everything else you would need . Liked that the lobby had a coffee till 11pm everyday !!! Plus the staff was very nice and helpful. Quick access to Old town was a plus. Would definitely stay again if in San Diego.

Quaint little place

I like the location. The TV didn’t work and the shower soap dispenser wasn’t working. The a/c was nice. Clean room and beds
-
The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable and the staff was friendly, so the basics were all there. The neighborhood felt sketchy and the rooms were dated. The only mirror was a smallish one in the bathroom, so it made getting ready for two people difficult. We had the King Suite and there was a pullout couch awkwardly placed in the middle of the room, yet, there was a full size fridge and full stove. The room could have been better used and it felt like we were stuck in the mid 1980’s.

What a unique and beautiful location. I advise staying here for the ambiance and venue. Food was spectacular as well.

I love this quiet old world charming hotel. Been coming here for many years. Always a pleasure and lovely garden around pool. It’s nice to have real dishes and cutlery for breakfast rather than paper. Appreciate the protein available to eat. Will return.

Spent the night here for a layover, good and affordable option. But far from any stores or restaurants.
