I would highly recommend DogoYaya, we had a fantastic stay and loved everything about it!

The room was extremely small and felt claustrophobic for two people

Location, amenities including adorable yukata, clean modern design, super nice and helpful staff, amazing breakfast.
-
Close to the famous Dogo Onsen, the hotel has excellent staff and a wonderful breakfast. A little hilly but that’s to be expected in Dogo.

Small room

I really enjoyed my stay at Dogo Yaya. The breakfast was very rich and satisfying, the onsen towels came in many options to choose from, and I loved that they offered fresh orange juice. The hot spring itself was very relaxing and comfortable. The room felt a bit small and outdated, and the window was too small to really see outside.

Special thanks to the young man in the lobby staff who offered to help us at night. Nothing in particular

Very clean and comfortable. All facilities were updated and fresh. The orange juice provided on tap at reception was a nice touch.

I was really impressed with this hotel. It is hard to get in there to park, but otherwise, it is walking distance from most of the main attractions in town as well as public transportation. I also just adored our room - which was a tatami mat room. I felt that it was a very warm and welcoming space. I enjoyed being there and loved the overall vibe of the hotel. The staff was also VERY kind to us. Be mentally prepared if you are coming by car - it's really a bit hard to get in there but you just need to carefully brave some very narrow streets. It would be great of the hotel could give folks a suggested route for getting in.

The bed felt just a little uncomfortable.

Great location in Dogo (near the main street and the famous Onsen). Many amenities (including onsen towels, yukata, seta, tabi, haori, etc.) All-you-can-drink mikan juice Very wide room

It's difficult for me to come up with a rating for this place. It felt to me like Yaya was a former business hotel that was bought out and renovated to try and become something a bit more upscale... The room is absolutely tiny and if you have large luggage you will have difficulty placing and opening it inside. The window was small and frosted, making the space feel even more cramped. The shower seemed a bit dirty and old, but I think the intention here is that you're going to go bathe at Dogo Onsen. But whatever was lacking in the room was made up in the amenities -- the mikan juice on tap was a nice feature and we certainly drank our money's worth over the time we stayed here, and the breakfast buffet was excellent, with far more choices than I expected. You have a whole salad bar, hot food made to order, curries, hamburg, breads, soups, fish, fresh orange juice, coffee, etc etc etc. So, if you're staying in Matsuyama to visit Dogo and that's it, this place is a great place to be for a night. If you're visiting for a few days, I would go elsewhere, or see if they have larger rooms available. "What is this, a room for ants?!" Shower seemed a bit old and dirty, and the whole space seemed a little dingy and claustrophobic.

Discounted tickets to Dogo Onsen, which is only a few minutes walk from the hotel. Towel bar and orange on tap in the reception. Amenities bar includes face masks and mouthwash. Free supper of rice with dashi. Very clean hotel. You are required to remove your shoes before entering the room. Love the depth of the bathtub in the room.

DogoYaya was excellently located walking distance to the two main onsens in town. There is a delightful shopping strip which includes lovely restaurants nearby and heaps of parking on site if you are driving. The hotel itself had great staff who did their very best to speak to us in English. The have a nice resting space in the lobby where you can have tea and coffee and free champaign during happy hour on the evening. They also provided yukatas complete with tabi socks and shows for us all to wear when we went to the onsen. The room was lovely with comfortable mattresess but it was very small.
