We loved it. It was like a bed and breakfast. Only thing missing was an area in the shade with a beachview. Breakfast was great.

The staff were very helpful and informative.

How close was the beach and how friendly the staffing was when you lose personal items. It is not close to stores so prepare to stock up before arriving.

Nice room, comfortable bed, very good breakfast

Love this Historic Hotel. I would sugest a 1920 theme staff and all. Have a 1920's themed dances, dining, & evens. Even if it's just for one week. Would be a lot of fun. Cool winter month would be best. Yes we saw a ghost shadow walk by our door and there was construction down the hall then we were startled by banging on our door no one was there..... Nice comfy bed & cold room. Nice escape from the summer heat. Stay here you will LOVE IT!

Historic Stairs, good have more pictures on room walls. Like Nextdoor but old beach look

Unfortunately, the stay itself was disappointing. Upon arrival, the evening front desk employee was rude and unfriendly. She had trouble locating our reservation and seemed annoyed that it had been booked through a third-party site. The room did not cool well, making it uncomfortable at times. There was also some type of equipment above the closet that activated about once an hour and made noise for roughly a minute each time, which was disruptive. The towels were very thin and worn and seemed overdue for replacement. If that's important to you, consider bringing your own. To make matters worse, we were awakened at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday by drilling or construction noise. Overall, while the location is excellent, the building is in need of significant updates, and the service and room conditions did not meet expectations.

We checked out as soon as we could. The place may be historic, but it’s so run down. It needs major work. The beds were terrible and sleeping on the ground would have been tha thepull out couch.

Very poor

First and foremost, this hotel is in an excellent location. Literally steps from the beach and right in the heart of Jacksonville Beach. There is free parking in the lot across the street, which is very convenient. Our room was large and comfortable. The property is old, which I don't mind, but it could use a little bit of TLC. The outside area in the back (where we came down the steps to go to the beach) is filled with old kitchen equipment and other things, that could just be thrown out and the area cleaned up. The towels - particularly - need an upgrade. They are thin and just not very nice. Small little things like that could be a huge improvement. The other thing I will say is that the rooms are described as "ocean view". Yes, you can technically see the ocean if you look hard enough out your window, but none of the rooms on this property face the ocean. After all is said and done, we would definitely stay at this hotel again, but fixing a few small maintenance issues would make a big improvement.

It’s historic but needs major renovations

but we only stayed for one night.

The dtaff was so friendly and helpful! The breakfast was great and the hotel was very clean. Just wish they had a pool or access to one with neighbor hotel.

Location near the beach. Size was intimate. But that's it. The place was under construction and no one warned us. It is an old property and that's OK, but it FEELS old and unkept. The rooftop is a major asset but it lacks nice places to sit. The breakfast salon is large with vaulted ceilings.. could be a major asset but instead it has a few folding chairs and tables. Breakfast is bone-basic and served on folding tables. The front door is faded and full of major scratches. It's a shame because, again, it's supposed to look old but it could be majestic if it were well kept.

The hotel is literally steps away from the beach. My boyfriend and I had an awesome day at the beach. The hotel is in walking distance of a ton of different restaurants and bars. The water pressure in the faucets could have been better. The bedroom tv was not a smart tv and the living area sofa was somewhat small.

Historical irreplaceable hotel. The list of famous past guest s is truly impressive. And the fact that it is haunted is also plus. I think the spirits never wanted to leave and that's why they stay. You should stay there at least once I'd send your lifetime. The location on the beach is also superb.

Direct access to the beach, walking distance to shops and restaurants. Free parking. Breakfast included.

very comfortable. Loved the old fashioned look and feel, yet with modern conveniences. Unfoortunately, they had construction going on in the lobby, no doubt an improvement to their facility, but it was a little loud and impacted their serving and seating guests for breakfast. Understand that it is totally unavoidable. Other than that, it was great!!! We will definitely go again!!
