TownePlace Suites by Marriott Austin Northwest/The Domain Area

This hotel now charges for parking, which was free in the past and still should be free. There is no reason to charge for parking, as parking in this area of town does not come at a premium. I did notice that there is overnight security, so I wonder if they have had issues with customers' vehicles being broken into. They did not tell me or warn me. Overall, the hotel is decent, but it has taken on some wear and tear since it opened. Most of the staff is not welcoming, and there were no carts available to help me with my luggage. My room had mildew in the closet due to condensation from the HVAC vent. The grout in the bathroom has chipped out due to water from the shower, because there is no shower door. Everything else was decent. Breakfast is decent, but a homeless person crashed it one morning, and the staff acted clueless about it. Where was security?!?! Perhaps 3-star hotels closer to the Domain are a better choice.

Place was clean and convenient. Staff was friendly. Bed was comfy. Disliked having to pay to park!!

We were extremely impressed by the cleanliness of our room. Parking was only $9 a day, which is a steal for the Domain area. Breakfast was wonderful as well.

The hotel room was very quiet, well appointed & comfortable. It had a comfortable sofa so we didn’t have to sit on the bed. The full size refrigerator, mini kitchen were great! The staff was friendly, breakfast was ok. Great location! Only minor issues we had were that the air conditioner would cycle, making it warm when it stopped & chilly when it started. Could not run the ac fan continuously. Housekeeping missed our room even though we were out by 10am.

The hotel (room, location, amenities, etc) were all very good! Pleased with the stay overall. My two cons were outside the room. #1 Parking is $9 and does not cover the entirety of your stay. It is THEIR parking lot, so it should coincide with THEIR stay hours. Check in at 3pm, check out at 12pm. I checked in at 4:30pm and got a notification the next morning at 11am my parking had now expired. Why cheat patrons out of 2+ hours? #2 The lady at the desk for check-out took forever. I was waiting in line for 15+ minutes with only one person in front of me. I finally just leaned in and said “here are my keys for checkout” and left. No idea why it was taking her so long to rent one person a room.

Had a great time and the staff was amazing on all accounts

My only suggestion would be to improve access to the Tesla charging stations. One charger was located in a handicap parking space, and the other was occupied by a non-EV vehicle, making charging difficult for guests who rely on it.

3rd time we have stayed, we come every year from the uk to visit our son who lives in Austin, nice good value hotel, see you next year.
