The Lakefront Anchorage

I was charged incorrectly for the first night at the hotel, when I went to ask about it, the woman removed the charge- it took days for the reversal to show up in my bank account. I went to the front desk each of the days I was there to see if I could get some evidence of the reversal of the charge. Each person was unable to support this request.

The property was nice and clean. The staff in the restaurant was not very friendly. I could tell they were under staffed, but there was only one older gentleman that worked the breakfast in the breakfast buffet that was so nice and friendly! He was so kind and the only friendly staff member that worked in the restaurant

This property was completely average. Shuttle great gym was nice, no pool or jacuzzi, food was good. Staff was nice. No microwave in room. Hotel is screaming for an update. New paint new rugs new fixtures . And for the live of all holy the microwave on third floor vending room needs to be replace and that room was like 100F.

Shuttle staff is rude, carpet is really old and could use replacing. Had to argue about that breakfast was advised as free when booking to get a voucher for a subpar breakfast that was going to cost $59 for two people. Way overrated and did not meet any exceptions that was advertised. Only good thing was the free shuttle to and back from the airport.

Still stay here because of proximity to airport and old Alaska nostalgia, but rooms and common areas are tired. Rooms are large and restaurants are good.

We’re Alaskans and unfortunately it’s just too pricey in the summertime.

At breakfast we waited 30 minutes for a waitress, we finally flagged her down and asked if we could order. She told us it would be awhile and if we wanted faster service we could move to the upper level. She had 8 tables, and 5 had their food. Someone else was bringing food to the tables for her, so she didn't even have to deal with the food, just drinks and taking orders. Worst experience I've ever had at a hotel with staff. It was obvious they don't care about their customers.

For the price, I felt the hotel was only about a three star. The outdoor maintenance was absolutely horrendous. Nothing trimmed nothing cut. When I booked this online, I was thought I was staying in a 4.5 to 4.9 rated hotel. It is not. The plane landing, and taking off on the water was the highlight. The rest of the experience was average and best.

Older lodge style hotel that is in a good location, close to the airport on Hood Lake. The property is older and worn and some details are lacking but it was comfortable and easy going. A bit on the expensive side for the value. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

The only reason to stay here is the convenience of location and shuttles to/from the airport and the train station. The staff is polite enough (and the shuttle drivers friendly and helpful), but the amenities are definitely sub par, especially the worn carpeting in the public areas (some creating a potential tripping hazard) and the poor condition of the 2nd floor laundry (pooling water on the floor which was not attended to.)

The surrounding area was rather sketchy but so was downtown Anchorage. The shuttle to downtown was a nice touch. Be forewarned that float planes operate extensively on the lake the hotel fronts. They start their day around 7:30. You WILL not miss them.

The room was nice.. It was clean and always stocked with towels. I appreciate the water in the room. It was stuffy but the weather was not usual for Anchorage.

No A/C outside of rooms. A/C in room is in the window tucked behind blackout curtains so you either get a cold room with 24/7 sunshine or a hot dark room. The carpets in the hallways are gross. The beds and pillows were lumpy - none of us slept well and woke up stiff and sore. The restaurant service was awful. We had to get up and find salt, ketchup, water and coffee jugs to get our own refills because we didn't even see our waitress to flag her down. The server also brought the wrong order to our table and forgot to put in for the other half of our order. We heard similar rumblings about super slow service during dinner but we refused to eat there again after the first terrible experience. There was also a homeless population hanging around the hotel and we witnessed someone trying to break into cars in the hotel parking lot as well as an attempted robbery the next night in the street. We were even told not to use the north exit to the building because homeless people tend to hang around there. The positives: the room was clean and the shower water pressure was amazing.
