Coast Inn at Lake Hood
About Coast Inn at Lake Hood
Coast Inn at Lake Hood, is a short walk away to watch float planes take on and off from one of the busiest seaplane bases in the world. In the winter the frozen lake serves as a frozen runway for planes with skis. Befitting to its location the hotel is decorated in Alaska Bush Pilot memorabilia and historic photography that the Alaska Aviation Museum next door shares with them. Each guest room is carefully cared for by our veteran housekeeping team, most of which have been with us 5 years and some up to 20 years. Each room has everything you need like Keurig Coffee machines with locally owned Caffé D'arte Alaska coffee, to in-room microwave and mini-refrigerator. If you have forgotten something, our front desk probably has it. We keep a fresh supply of basic toiletries available for you. Dine-in at locally owned and operated for 30 plus years, Pipers Restaurant and Lounge, or order room service. We have monthly specials that coincide with the season, Alaskan local favorites, and traditional native food. In the summer the deck is open and overlooks Lake Hood, where you can watch the planes land and take off right in front of you. The hotel has everything you need; from the fitness center, laundry machines, complimentary wi-fi, over 6,000 square feet of meeting space, computer stations for printing boarding passes, and the most needed on-demand courtesy airport shuttle available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, no reservation required. If you need to park and fly out, our partner Alaska Park is next door ready to serve you, and is who handles our courtesy shuttle.

Reviews
-
Nice that the restaurant is right there. They need an elevator- badly.
-
An okay property for the one night we needed a place to sleep. I like that they have 24 hour check in.
-
We appreciated the clean, well sized room and the restaurant, Pipers.
-
No elevator and we were on the second floor. Much older building in need of updating.
-
Food and service was good in Pipers restaurant too. We only stayed 2 nights but it met our needs for that basis. Limited drink making facilities in the room - (coffee only and powdered milk sachets), no bottled water - no fridge - small towels.

Location to airport; restaurant
-
Great price, close to airport and car parking!
-
Unfortunately the restaurant/bar was terribly understaffed, but that seems to be the norm these days! The manager was a rude/nasty woman!
-
The somer is there and most ridiculous prices wat the asking
-
That the restaurant is incorporated to the hotel lobby Nothing

Very good

Free shuttle sevice. Good (paid for separately) breakfast. Instructions to get picked up were useless, especially if, like us you didn't have use of a mobile phone. When we finally could phone the only contact number it was never answered. When we finally got to tge motel, 2 hours later, the receptionist said that it wasn't there problem. Facikities were limited a nd badly in need of maintenance.

We only stayed one night and had an early flight, so admittedly limited exposure to the hotel. Hotel itself had a very strong, permeating odor of the hotel laundry services, atleast on the first floor. Despite our room being a down the hall and around a corner from the laundry services, all we could smell was chemical laundry odors. The room itself appeared to have been cleaned without attention to detail, as we found a candy wrapper under the bed and hair in the tub/shower. The front desk staff who checked us in were efficient, but certainly made no effort to be friendly or let us know about any amenities. I had to ask for directions to our room to know where it was located. When checking out, I had to wait for the front desk lady to notice us due to her playing a game on her phone. After she took our keycard back, i was waiting to see if I needed to sign anything and was simply told "If you dont need a receipt, you can go", before she resumed playing a game on her cell phone. Never asked us how our stay was. Overall, was very disappointed given how expensive the hotel rooms here are. Would not recommend and will not use when we return.
-
Very convenient to the airport. Large hotel, no elevator.
-
I wish the shuttle would have been able to take us to the train station. We had to get an uber.
-
All around great
