DO NOT get a room that ends in 7. if you do, the entire New York City will be able to see everything you do in your bathroom. No option for privacy. If you tell the front desk about this, they will simply say that this is a “sex-positive hotel” referring to the hotel’s history with exhibitionism / voyeurism. You will literally have to confront them to even get a room change. other than that, amazing room, toiletries, amenities, cafe + bar, location, service, etc.

Apart from initial hiccup where the AC didn’t work well for the first night and delay in getting to another room on the second day the stay was comfortable .

View from the room was excellent. The staff were very helpful and polite. The coffee that the hotel offers at the lobby early in the morning is a big plus. Even in a king studio, space was tight.

I chose the Standard because the Moxy wasn't available. I needed to be near my son's NYU dorm on 3rd. Ave. The Standard proved to be fantastic and I will definitely return. Rudy at the front desk was really friendly and professional. The parking was explained clearly to me. Rudy gave me an upgrade to a higher floor so I'd have a fantastic view. I didn't eat at the restaurant, but had a drink at the bar and the bartender was also very friendly and helpful. The room was great and had everything we needed. Would strongly recommend The Standard.

The staff were always helpful and accommodating. Was disappointing there were no coffee making facilities in the room and free coffee was served only from 5:30-7am in Reception. Some of the shower jets did not work properly and the steam control in the shower was broken. Elevators felt more like a goods elevator than a guest elevator. Bar seemed to close early, even on the weekend. Difficult to open and close the curtains.
