The hotel is an old building but clean and organized. We had the safe and AC in our room not working , they were fixed the next day.

Had a reservation for 2 BR with sofa bed for 6 Adults (for 3 days), upon check in I told the front desk lady (Mariela/Marcela) that we have another person with us, my 10 year old son with autism. The check-in lady insisting about charging us an additional $350(for my 10 year old boy's accommodation) I was shocked, $350 feels excessive for a kid. She even say Bayard is fully booked if not she will be force to have us get an additional room. She even say that if we don't agree paying $350 that she will cancel our reservation and it's non refundable. (I already paid $1600+ for 3 nights thru Expedia and she is threatening about cancelling without refund if don't agree to pay additional $350 for my son) She has no compassion at all. This ruined our NY trip, this should have been our food budget. I feel like we are left with no other option but to pay for my 10 year old son's accommodation. If only I can get a refund, I will walk out of that hotel. And to my surprise upon check out, the receipt for my 10 year old son's stay is $430 ($350+tax and urban and orther charges) Yes, $430 for a 10 year old boy. This hotel is old, no lobby, dirty carpet, door creaking, dirty and small elevator with a warning to limit 6 or less person in the elevator as you can get trapped. This hotel has no transparency, deceptive pricing, over charging and poor business practices. Staying in this hotel is a big mistake. And I am not recommending to anyone.

Exceptional

We were very surprised at the size of this apartment. Exceptionally clean. Nice furnishings. Great area. If we come back, we won’t stay anywhere else. We rate this 15 out of 10. Close to subways and unique restaurants. Close but just far enough away from hectic Time Square/theater district.

The room was very spacious for NYC and clean. We are a family of 5 which is why we chose this hotel. Good location just off Lexington. The front desk staff was really friendly, and we really enjoyed the breakfast. There were eggs, ham or sausage, bagels, pastries, fresh waffles, yogurt, cereal, oatmeal, coffee, juice, and milk. We really have no complaints and would highly recommend, especially for small groups or families.

Great location, huge rooms (by NYC standards), and very helpful / friendly staff, but the website photos are not accurate. It is nowhere near as polished as it looks in the photos and needs some serious updating.

Great stay. Huuuuge spacious one bedroom apartment. Kitchen didn’t have much to cook with, so disappointed with that but couldn’t fault anything else. Comfy bathroom with soft towels. Great housekeeping. Comfy kind bed and pull out couch was comfy to sleep on for our children. Great linens. Highly recommend! Very central! Easy access to get around Manhattan and to other boroughs via subway. Super friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfasts. Shame the coffee machine didn’t make hot chocolates or cappuccinos but we made do!

The staff were very kind and professional, especially at reception and during breakfast. The hotel was clean and in a superb location. The room temperature was difficult to regulate, occasionally making the room uncomfortably cold.

Staff was super friendly. Breakfast was great walking distance to all the sites.

The staff was excellent, offering support for a family member with special needs and guidance for places to eat nearby etc. Warm greetings and holding our luggage until official check in time were welcome after travelling into the city. The room was beyond our expectations in terms of space, and it was very clean. The one area I hope the hotel can improve/update soon is the cooling system that they currently have in place. If individual units are the choice, then perhaps new ones or splits. At least two rooms in the suite were either too warm or too cool. One slight issue that just comes with a nice hotel that is so small is the size of the elevator, and the wait time that comes with it. Those who are able can take the stairs of course, but the higher the floor, the more challening that may be. Overall, we loved it, and plan to return to the Bayardregularly for our family stays in NYC.
