The bathroom shower was stained and nasty looking. TV wouldn't come on, property outside dirty and disheveled looking

Decent low cost hotel for a night or two. The front desk staff was great. The location is good, very near the train station and the food truck paradise. The hotel is just very old inside and very basic. A lot of things were partially broken or very worn. They very kindly moved me rooms when the TV was broken.

Breakfast was OK, but very little to eat so do not plan on getting much. Price for the night was very reasonable, which is why I guess you get what you pay for.

This did not look anything like the pictures. It was disgusting! All we could do was laugh when we got into the room. The bathroom was a joke. And you have to pay daily to park. One elevator that looks like something from the twilight zone for 8 floors! Do not waste your money.

  • Engine customer Jun 2026

Loud music all night long and extreme highway noise

Having to pay an extra 25 dollars to check in early on a weekday 1 1/2 hours early is wild, for a not top quality hotel.

Hotel was pleasant, room was clean and reasonably quiet but it had virtually no amenities - not even a suitcase stand. Furniture was a bit shabby. The TV did not work. We asked for extra pillows - which we need for orthopedic purposes - but there were no extras. (Fortunately one very helpful staff member - the only one on duty in the evening - made a special effort and found us an extra pillow.) They did allow us to check in early without a surcharge but there was an unexpected $4 charge for parking. They are well located in terms of the Yale campus and the "Little Italy" neighborhood.

One elevator work and the shower certain was real old N/A

There were random people hanging around outside the property after dark which didn’t make me feel comfortable. I was nervous to go out to my car at night. The room felt dirty and the place was not well maintained… very disappointing!

Bad: manager/owner should work on people skills. Theres a $4 parking fee but website said free. The room did not have bath towels, only hand & face towels. Waited for the elevators and other guest had to tell us it was broken. Went to tell the manager and he already knew. But didnt bother to tell us when we checked in. Everyone had to use stairs. Room was DIRTY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sofa had stained all over. Pee on the toilet. Hair in shower. Layers of dirt & dust on baseboard. Missing desk chair. Bent up luggage rack. Something exploded and left stain on the wall. Water stains in the ceiling. Poorly lite room. Hallway & bathroom are low ceiling, approximately 80in. Im 5'2 and was 1in short touching the ceiling. Bathroom had no vent and with the low ceiling so the shower ceiling had signs of peeling and layers of painted to cover up. The room look like a poorly done diy from someone who had no idea & poor eyesight, wall paint on ceiling & base board, heavy caulking on sink bowl that didn't seal properly. You can hear people walking around in the room above. homeless people around the parking lot. They try to come in to eat breakfast but staff was quick to stop them. Water view is a view of a biofuel refinery.

We've stayed at good La Quintas and so booked here, but this one has not much to like (see below) The New Haven La Quinta seemed like the idea was to warehouse people rather than have them prized as guests who chose to enoy the facility. The room felt as if furniature had been dumped there without much idea of the people using it and as a result you felt you were also being dumped there till you could get away the next morning. It was billed as a "Deluxe Suite" but when we found nothing deluxe about it we were told it was called that for its view of the water. The water view turned out to be about an inch and a half of the water and mostly a view of the super highway between the hotel and the water. As far as calling it a suite, the definition was new to me. I always understood suite to mean two rooms, but if privacy was your concern, this was essentially one room with a strange looking divider that offered no privacy for the third person.
