Comfort Suites Chesapeake - Norfolk

4 years ago I had occasion to stay at 2 different Comfort Inns and swore I would NEVER stay at one again! After this stay at Comfort Inn I have to rethink it. The property was clean and well taken care of in every aspect—public areas clean, grounds clean and litter free, the carpet was clean and well vacuumed, the eating area spotless; the room was immaculate, no mold in the bathroom, everything fresh and in place and the best thing they had going for them was the staff—I was greeted warmly by all and when I had a question or concern they (front desk, breakfast workers, the room workers, yard staff) would listen and do all they could to address my question or concern. I was there for 4 days and did not have a single concern or issue. I have stayed in hotels and paid two or three times as much and not been treated as well. I am hoping I get back to the area in the future and if not I hope you find yourself in their care at some point and enjoy as much as I did.

The hotel explained they attempted to charge my card three times 48 hours before arrival. The card was locked, so the charges were declined. I understand that part. My concern is that no one successfully notified me before canceling my reservation. Had I been contacted, I could have unlocked the card or provided another payment method within minutes. When I asked why I hadn't been notified, I was told they had tried to contact me. However, I received no voicemail, email, text message, or missed call. Instead, I was simply told there were no rooms available. The conversation felt very dismissive, with little concern for the inconvenience of canceling a reservation on the day of my trip. What concerns me most is the disconnect between Expedia offering a "Pay at Property" option while the hotel requires payment before arrival. This is the second time I've experienced a reservation issue when booking through Expedia, and it has significantly reduced my confidence in the booking process. I believe customers should have a reasonable opportunity to resolve a payment issue before a reservation booked a month in advance is canceled.

The sheets, pillow and blanket was the best. Soft, and very comfortable. Clean room and a firm mattress. A great night sleep.

The room was clean and comfortable. We did have to ask for wash cloths and they were provided quickly. The breakfast was the usual but it was kept very well stocked. Overall we would use the hotel again.

The property was clean. Not exceptional. Staff helpful. Breakfast not the greatest. The stay was nice but for the price they need to upgrade. Carpet definitely needs to be changed.

We also really enjoyed having access to the pool and were able to get a nice swim in together, which made the trip even more fun and relaxing. The only downside was that the ice machine near the front desk wasn’t working during our visit, which was a bit inconvenient. However, aside from that minor issue, everything else met expectations. Overall, it was a comfortable and enjoyable stay for us, and I would consider staying here again.
