Final check out and happy to not look back.

I stayed at this Sonesta Simply Suites location for 10 weeks across four separate reservations while relocating for work. Unfortunately, the experience steadily declined. The biggest issue was the environment. Loud, unruly guests were a regular occurrence, and despite repeated disturbances, the staff seemed unwilling to address the behavior. The hallways frequently smelled of marijuana, often to the point that it was impossible to avoid. Housekeeping was another major disappointment. Across 10 weeks and four reservations, my room was never cleaned once. I understand extended-stay hotels operate differently than traditional hotels, but going that long without a single cleaning is unacceptable. The laundry facilities were also out of service for more than two weeks due to ongoing “maintenance.” It appeared repairs were being performed by long-term guests in exchange for room credits rather than by qualified maintenance personnel, leaving paying guests without a basic amenity for an extended period. The staff was generally polite, but politeness doesn’t make up for a lack of action. Extended-stay guests still deserve a clean, safe, and reasonably quiet place to live. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here, and I would not stay at this location again.

Really nice, clean rooms. Great location. Would stay again.

We had stayed here a few years ago and it was in much better shape. The rooms were dirty and the hotel needed a good cleaning in general. It was so bad that we forfeited our payment and went to stay somewhere else. The man at the front desk was very nice and tried to give us another room and said it was an upgrade but due to the general state of the hotel and the fact many of the guest were already very loud, we decided to cut our losses and find another place to stay.

The property was clean and well maintained. All my request was meet upon arrival. I was very well pleased. Will stay again upon visiting the city of Bham

Exceptional

The toilet had feces along the rim when I checked in and there were smudges of dirt on the door and door frame of the bathroom which created serious questions as to how well the rest of the place had been cleaned. Once I got to bed, the refrigerator compressor began making a loud screeching noise that went on periodically throughout the night. Fortunately, I had ear plugs, as I did not want to change rooms in the middle of the night. I informed the front desk staff at checkout, including showing them a video with the loud screeching. They apologized but did not offer to provide any compensation for the disturbance. The place is not terrible, and if it is the only thing in your budget or you can't find somewhere else, go ahead. Otherwise, I advise finding another location while visiting Birmingham. Thanks, Michael

The staff here have been great. I’ve stayed a total of 8 weeks across 3 separate reservations, so I feel like I’ve gotten a pretty good sense of the property. Is it a 5-star hotel? No. But it’s about what you’d expect for the price point. Many residents appear to be long-term guests, and you’ll see things like kids catching the school bus from the parking lot. My biggest frustration is that during my entire stay, the room has never been cleaned. Guests are expected to wash their own towels and bedding, which would be less of an issue if the laundry facilities were fully functional. Unfortunately, more than half of the dryers have been out of service since I arrived in April, and with only four washers available, laundry can become a challenge—especially when machines sit occupied with unattended loads. The most significant issue, however, is the persistent marijuana odor throughout the building. It can be smelled regularly during the day and night. There are no-smoking signs posted throughout the property, but that policy doesn’t seem to be consistently enforced. Overall, the people are friendly and the price is reasonable, but there are definitely opportunities to improve the guest experience.

Disappointing
-
The room was clean but had Oder possibly due to the fact that unbeknownst to me the hotel is an extended stay hotel semi permanent tenants
-
Stayed overnight. We had 3 rooms. 2 rooms had no hand soap or wash towels. 1 room had a bad outlet..

Pictures are a complete lie of what the actual rooms look like. Temuesque People were clearly living at the property. Fridge didn’t work well, dishes visibly dirty and had a used sponge to clean them

Check in took forever. I’ve stayed several times and never had an issue. The room was spacious and clean. Good night’s sleep.
