The staff was very helpful with storing my luggage when I arrived hours before check-in time. The room I received surprised me with its large size and nice sitting and work areas. Loved it!

Bad: Super loud because room directly over cable cars, hotel is old, vomit smell in bathroom never goes away, room small.

I love this hotel. It is old but they have done a great job of updating and renovating & embracing the old and new. I love that i got to take a bath in a deep tube after a long daybof walking. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean. The location is great! Would definitely recommend and go back!

I really appreciated Angelo the doorman who helped me get in and out of the hotel seamlessly. I loved that the room felt clean and I slept well. There was a little live plant in my room - I have never seen that in a hotel! Why didn’t I give 4 stars all around? The bathroom is quite small. Grout missing and some rust. The windows do not open. I couldn’t get the shampoo to work and forgot my own. It is quite pricey to stay here and it l seems to be under construction from the exterior. I loved the SF wallpaper!

I enjoyed the stay, however, I did find a few small bugs in my room. They looked like termites.

A lovely historic hotel in a convenient location with very comfortable beds, and a lobby with bar, tea, coffee, water and cookies. The beds are quite high and there is a step into the bathroom and a shower over bath setup so it may not suit everyone. I asked for a quiet room and was given one at the rear of the hotel on level 12. I closed the bathroom door at night to reduce noise from the fan. There is no air conditioning but the ceiling fan is quiet and there are good blackout drapes. The windows do open if you find the room stuffy or hot but there are good blackout curtains and the windows seem to be good at blocking out external noise.

Very good

All in all, it is a good value for money. Location is fantastic, staff are pleasant, and the place is clean. There is free popcorn in the evenings, water dispenser during the whole day etc. Their additional pillow collection is good. For me, the most important thing about a room is the bed, and here it was unfortunately not good. It was way too soft, my back started hurting immediately. Upon mentioning this to the receptionist, they added plywood between the bottom and the mattress, which helped a little but it was nowhere near enough. I asked about different rooms but they said all the beds are the same. Not only is it uncomfortable, if you sleep with a partner, it feels like a water bed. Every movement you make, your partner will feel and vice versa. It’s a shame, since if this was better it would be a 12/10 experience as a whole.

The staff are very friendly, especially the bellmen. Most of the he front desk are also friendly. This is like my 4th time staying here and some have been so welcoming. I did feel like one was disappointed to see me hahaa. It's ok, I get it. I try to be easy peasy but I usually do ask for a late checkout, which they do kindly accommodate but you usually have to make sure they write it down.. anyways, overall great place to stay for a few days when I come and see my son that lives here.
