Room and hotel were clean and really cute. We were a little confused about parking and were to enter the hotel.

Very spacious loft style rooms right in the downtown area. The rooms had high ceilings and were very modern with nice seating area and retro fridge. The bathroom had the largest shower we’d ever seen, walk in style that could fit a family of four! Had a nice sized soaker tub and marble flooring! We weee staying in the Annex area across from main hotel and had a parking space in alley right outside the entrance— very convenient! The hotel doors are all electronic code for security and there was a common area in the hall with ice and microwave, etc. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful, walking me over to the room and showing me how to access the doors using codes. Only issue we had was the hot water in the bathroom sink wouid not start flowing until you had to first turn it on in the bathtub….seemed like a weird plumbing issue? Otherwise, this was a very nice hotel with lots of room for our dog too.

Location! updated room decor good parking options friendly staff suggestions: the room is dark; needs better lighting options overall- also needs to get a natural light option - you could put blinds that pull up from the bottom so that the top of the window can let light in additional- when i first came in the room there was a strong cleaning product smell ...it took away from the overall ambiance of the otherwise very nice room - the smell did go away eventually

Love the concept of converting a building from 1857 into a hotel. The original brick walls add character to the room. However, there were three small windows above the rafters that had no coverings so sleeping in the morning was difficult - too much light streaming into the room. It’s nice to have a separate sitting area; however, the couch was not comfortable. Beautiful shower with two shower heads that is spacious. The bathroom is open to the sitting area which doesn’t afford any privacy when showering. There is NO closet or hangers - just a coat tree so if you’re attending a dressy function, there’s no way to hang a dress or suit. The location is convenient to walking around the area. The bar area is large to accommodate events. Our first night we were exploring the area, and the second there was a private event so we never utilized the bar. The website is inaccurate so you can’t rely on it for information.

We love staying at The 1857. We’ve stayed multiple times throughout the years. The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is the bar situation. More often than not when we stay the bar is closed for a private event. It’s inconvenient.

Perfect location for attending performance at The Carson Center and several historic sites and restaurants within easy walking distance. Especially enjoyed the river walk and murals. Only problem was I had not noticed their note about no elevator; fortunately, it was only one flight of stairs to our room.

Excellent location for walking around the city. The hotel is modern and yet matches the feel of the history of the city.
