Hampton Inn & Suites Downers Grove Chicago

We have been staying there for several years. I just think it needs updating. Things are starting to look dated and worn.

After arriving and checking in we go up to my room to We found the door to the room unlocked. Upon entering, we contacted the front desk to report that the room was unsecured. They mentioned that the maid may have left it open. This shouldn't happen because once I'm assigned that room, I'm responsible for all damages that are incurred. After settling in, we decided to get dinner. Just before leaving, we noticed that there's no shower curtain.We call downstairs and alert them to the fact that there's is no shower curtain. We had four different conversations about a shower curtain. The night manager tells me he has no one to put the shower curtain up.Only after a tense conversation the next day. Did anybody decide that this was an important thing for me to have as a part of my stay. I requested a meeting with the on duty manager which never happened. Shortly after that someone came up and actually fixed the shower curtain it took 2 minutes.The lack attention to detail, the lack of hospitality is simply amazingly lacks at this hotel. On a previous stay we had the toilet overflow for no reason and the staff had to come up at 8:30 pm at night to fix it. The maintenance procedures and attention to detail is just simply lacking At this hotel. Ultimately, my primary need is a clean, comfortable hotel room where I can sleep and shower while I'm on the road. This is a basic necessity for my convenience and comfort.

We didn't have breakfast. Overall, the hotel appeared to be clean. There was a loud aroma on the 5th floor by the elevators. The pool was down, I called for towels and never received them, neither tv in the room was working properly. It took maintenance almost an hour to fix one of the televisions.

Location was good. Breakfast was NOT the best.

Service was terrible. They didn't answer the phone at the front desk. Had to ask 3 times for more towels. It was dirty. One of the elevators was broken. Tiny room. For the price, I expected much better.

There were cracks in parts of the bathroom, and the carpet wasn’t clean

We’ve stayed here a couple of times before and it’s usually a good time. This time around the pool was out of order, there was only one elevator so going up and down took forever, the room smelled like sewage, the staircase is very dirty, and even the breakfast was off! The staff is nice and that’s pretty much the only good thing.

Very comfy room, smart TVs, no noise issues from other guests, nice bar on main floor and complimentary water/coffee. Enjoyed the stay here.

Very nice rooms. My only comment was that the bathroom didn't have towel racks. But overall, very nice accommodations. The best part of the facility was the small bar area off the lobby. Johnny, the bartender, has a menu of very good, interesting cocktails. There is also a food menu, ordered through the bar. We each placed an order, and our food was very good, and reasonably priced! Definitely a plus for this facility is "Johnny's Bar"!

Breakfast was wonderful. Lots of choices and variety. Room was clean and comfortable. Pool was under construction and one elevator was out of order
