The young man at check in was running everything ALONE. He was kind and gave us a new room when we were booked in one with no elevator. All in all, not great, but served its purpose. Needs BIG renovation.

Besides that, we enjoyed our stay.
-
Upset that the omelette station was pay. That was not stated in the hotel description. It said it was included. They kept running out of breakfast items
-
Food service was a bit spotty. Breakfast was about what you would expect. One morning coffee cups were not available because they hadn’t washed any from night before. Tried to order at the bar one night to take good back to the room but bartender was too engaged in conversation to be bothered to serve me. They ran out of food once. Best recliner I’ve ever had at a hotel :-)
-
They charged 10 dollars more for the room to get elevator accessible room. And there were no regular coffee pods in the room.

Overall after someone cleans the carpeting I would return again. Very nice property.

We ended up in what they called their Spa Room (it was large apartment style with a soaking tub and kitchen, couch area, and separate bed/bath area. For the price of this room we selected on a Wednesday night, (which was only king available when we booked), you'd think there would be regular coffee (not decaf), a blow dryer, an iron, maybe some cups, plates, and silverware, etc.... in the "kitchenette" area. The room was spacious but poorly equipped. The hotel was nice enough but maybe overpriced a bit.

This is our second time to stay here. It is very essentially located for us. Easy easy to get to. Best part of the hotel was the staff. They really are excellent. We will stay again when we come back to Colorado Springs.

We had a very nice room. Nice shower and cold air… we would stay again.

Free breakfast in the morning was a great perk

Hotel had a lot of character and it was what we needed, a place to sleep for our adventures. Close to many of the sights people want to see like Garden of the Gods, Piles Peak, Manitou Springs, Cheyenne Zoo, and Seven Falls. The hotel was short staffed, but they did what they could. The only thing I would recommend for the hotel to update were their food options for dinner. They have a restaurant/bar, but a majority of the food options were not available. Staff was very friendly and they did what they could to make it a great stay.

The Academy Hotel in Colorado Springs was a major disappointment. Our room was dingy, poorly maintained, and made us uncomfortable. We immediately requested a room change, but the front desk refused. There were also several red stains on the carpet leading to the room, which created an unsettling impression. After discussing our concerns with reception and receiving no assistance, we checked out and found another hotel. We simply did not feel comfortable staying the night.

The hotel is very run down and dark inside. The property in the back had trash and old parts laying around. My towels were all frayed, and the bed was awful with old sheets. I had to pay $20 to get my room an hour early. As far as I could see, 4 women were running the place and one maintenance person. They each traded jobs. It’s convenient to the highway and stores.

Staff was great! Could have been more clean looking on the outside. Room wasn’t terrible
-
Busy place in a great location! We were impressed with the cleanliness generally and the addition of breakfast at this price point. We’ll be back!

Amazing breakfast! Great indoor pool for the kids. Walkable dining options

Not so good: we had 4 rooms rented with our group of 7 travelers and each had different complaints. Including-room fridge not working, air conditioner not working properly (and the light for "change filter" was on mine), common areas not adequately lighted (including pool), hallways seldom vacuumed, very slow elevator-I saw only 1 in my wing, each had different bathroom fixtures-one stated her toilet was very low and she had a hard time with that, drains in the tub came right out. In my opinion, after observing over a few days time, is the staff were working really hard to keep things going as smoothly as possible and as best they could. But perhaps they did not have enough staff or resources? Not enough direction? I don't know give it time-new management will hopefully bring this to a higher standard. But, it was an OK place to stay.

The night we checked in we were tired from the drive and just wanted to grab a bite. We were given tokens for drinks and breakfast. We took our luggage to the room and turned around and went back downstairs to eat…well the fabulous grill with its advertisements covering the elevator and guess what it was closed, even though it should be open. The room was clean but it was hot. The air conditioner could not keep up. It took till 10pm to cool down. When checking in the desk staff was not very helpful and when we asked about the Grill not being open the desk clerk said the hotel was crappy…Great. The next night when we got back the grill was open but the unfriendly young lady told us there was no ground beef, and that is what is in pretty much 3/4 of the menu. And handed us menus but never bothered to see if we wanted to order food or drink, so we left. We were there 5 nights and I would have changed hotels but we own 3 businesses and just needed to get away and didn’t want the hassle of moving. I’ve always been so lucky to get great places to stay with Hotel.com but this was the first time it was so very poor service and mediocre accommodations.

Unfortunately, the hotel felt very dark and gloomy. There’s an indoor pool right in the lobby next to the breakfast area, so the entire entrance smells of chlorine. The fireplace wasn’t even working, which added to the uninviting atmosphere. My room was disappointing. The TV didn’t work, the bathroom wasn’t clean, the room hadn’t been properly dusted, and there was residue stuck to the phone. Because it was I-day at the Academy, the hotel was completely booked and there were no other rooms available, so I ended up getting cleaning supplies myself. Check-in was also frustrating. There were only two employees working the front desk, and the line was unbelievably long. I truly don’t understand how this hotel has such high ratings. An older hotel is one thing, but poor maintenance and cleanliness are another.

Upon our arrival we found our room with a pile of dirty linens at the door. Not very welcoming. The linens remained there for at least an additional hour after we arrived There was also a larger pile of dirty linens a few doors away.
