I think the staff could have been more helpful but enjoyed my stay.

The property was excellent however I would like to have a full receipt of my stay

Expedia had check in time for 3p and sent email confirmation for check in @ 3p. Arrived at 230 to see about a possible early check in since it was close to 3. Was told guaranteed check in is 4p (and to be fair it’s on their site.) Also, found out valet overnight is no longer available. My name was taken on a list of people to call when room was ready. I needed to change and get ready for event so I ended up driving to a friend’s house to get ready for an event which was not ideal with all of the happenings going on in Chicago. Got to friend’s events 5 and walked a few blocks to double check on reservation and the young man checked me in. Just frustrated that I never received a call about the reservation and Expedias info not matching.

I prepaid for my room. When I got to the hotel, (staff) told me they were oversold when I got in. It was 11pm. I told her that trying to go to a hotel wasn’t an option. she had to figure it out. Then all of a sudden a room became available.

I love the location, first and foremost! The atmosphere, restaurant, staff members, etc. were amazing as well. Already planning my next trip to Chicago and I will most definitely be staying at The Sophy!

I booked my reservation and made it into town about 12:43 AM. I asked if I could check in early and was told no which was a first for me because I normally stay at the Hilton and wherever I get into town that late they always welcome me in. I tried to cancel the reservation because I was able to secure another place to stay so I called and spoke with the manager who lied and said I needed to refer to booking.com for my refund which was false information. I called back and she had one of her employees answer the phone and put me on hold. I was on hold for about half an hour before I hung up. Horrible customer service

Great, newish property in the heart of Hyde Park. Convenient to University of Chicago, Museum of Science and Industry and Obama Center. Comfortable rooms with nice amenities. Only inconvenience was having to park a block away.
-
The location is so fun! Walkable restaurants, parks, stores, gyms, and U Chicago. Would definitely stay again. nothing

It was surprising to find that the front desk area and elevator lobby lights were completely off at night like it was shut down for the night?? Most disappointed that our room did not get cleaned our final night although we left the housekeeping light on - it was still on when we returned late that night. Just add the daily fee to the overall nightly rate and that would eliminate the ill feelings about an amenity fee.

I loved this hotel. The things that stand out to me were the design and the excellent quality of the restaurant. The rooms had a lot of cool touches that distinguish this boutique hotel from a chain and made my stay extra fun.
-
Room was beautifully decorated and clean. The amenities and having the restaurant on site was a big plus. The bed was so comfortable. It was hard to get up every morning. The entire staff was extremely friendly and very helpful.
