I checked in late (like after midnight late), so I know at that point it’s a crapshoot on rooms. My room was on the first floor, right by an exit door, and there were guys outside that door smoking. I get inside my room and yup..smells like smoke. And also the TV reception? Every channel was full of static.

Overall the stay was good. Points to improve: breakfast not available, and the odor to what I think was smoking (drugs) was a little high the 2nd night.

Overall, I had a great stay. The hotel is currently undergoing some renovations, but it didn't negatively affect my experience. The staff was friendly, the room was comfortable, and everything I needed was available. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished updates, and I would definitely stay here again.

The front desk staff were so nice! We weren’t sure what part of town we were in but we felt safe! No problems whatsoever. The hotel staff even said it was safe there. Our room was clean and large. Bathroom was clean. Highly recommend for the price you can’t beat this! I would stay again!

I would not recommend this hotel.

I’ve stayed at the Sonesta in Charlotte several times over the past couple years and this was by far the worst experience I’ve had. The hotel first and foremost wasn’t clean. The carpets are real dirty the 44 smelt of cigarettes. It was cigarette butts on the on the balcony in my room. My room had hair all in the tub. The room wasn’t really cleaned real good as soon as I pulled up the sheets, the cover to get in the bed there was hair in the bed. You had to repeatedly walk through the front entrance because the key cards didn’t work on none of the side doors so that was an inconvenience being you had to sometimes park on the other side of the hotel and then walk all the way around to the front. There was also only one operating elevator for us to get to the fourth floor therefore we had to walk all the way to the back of the hotel to get on that elevator just to go to our floor. This was by far my worst experience at Sonesta University Research Park and me and my wife have decided that we probably won’t use this hotel again. We’re at Charlotte travelers and we use this hotel a lot because of you know because of the convenience of where it’s located and also the price but after this day, we realize the price just isn’t worth it.

Everything was satisfactory

Elevator Wasn’t working room didn’t hv wash clothes requested from front desk to be advised the had no clean wash clothes but had towels I could use as wash cloths. Room was missing small table and no seats on balcony. Hall way smelled like trash. Ice machine on my floor was missing elevator was broken and side doors to enter with room key don’t work. You have to go out you way to the main entrance to enter.

Clean room A/c worked funny so we slept kinda uncomfortable. Was put in a room closest to a non working elevator so we had to walk completely across the floor to get to our room. Asked for a room on the ground floor instead was told it would be a $30 up charge which made no sense. They also had no wash clothes when i checked in nor the next day before i checked out. In a good location suitable for a one night stay and thats it

This is an honest review. If you’re in a bind and have no other choice then stay here. But if you’re in a can spare an extra few more dollars then please don’t. No breakfast at all, I paid for a balcony room and I was unable to utilize it due to the fact that the door was broken. I went to tell the front desk that the door was broken and they said the6 would send someone, however no one ever showed up. The ice machine was broken. It smelled awful, there was a ring around the tub, weed wrappers, cigarettes burns even tho it’s listed as a non smoking property. The carpet is dirty not only in the room but through the hallway too. The lobby is beautiful and smells amazing. However once you turn the corner it’s disgusting. I wouldn’t want my dog to stay here. I was so very disappointed in the stay. I went out to get blankets to sleep on and dispose of because it was giving very much bedbugs. Like I said if you have a few more dollars go somewhere else. If this is in your budget then just know it’s gross and the staff suck. Oh yea and there were people hoping over the fence in the middle of the night. SMH

So I booked this spot for a special occasion, Father’s Day and my significant others birthday. The main elevator was broken so we had to walk a pretty good distance to get to the secondary elevator. Upon arriving to our floor we was greeted by a big black trash bag and a target shopping basket. Not pleasing to eye of course. Good thing our room was cleaned to perfection. The staff was helpful directing us how to turn on the air unit. We didn’t use the kitchen and parking was great.

Very nicely appointed room and extremely polite and efficient staff. Just some folks staying there seemed a little sketchy.

The picture on the tv was not clear , I made a reservation on line but when I got there they claimed they couldn’t find even after giving them the booking number, so I ended up paying more !!!

My stay was great. I was there Juneteenth weekend. My only issue was that the fridge was not on when I got there and my tv was static on every channel! But I would stay again
